Served as communications and public relations director of the official statewide tourism-marketing organization for the State of Alaska. I supervised the association's publication specialist, tourism planner and web master. As public relations director I managed the association's public relations contract, which included implementation of the Alaska Media Road Show - an annual event in which members of the association were linked up with members of the national travle media to promote Alaska as a visitor destination. The Association received matching funds from the state. Part of my duties included preparing quarterly and annual reports outlining the programs and budget for my section and other association sections for presentation to the association's board and to the state, Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development. I also served as communications director and was reponsible for coordinating press releases and preparing newsletters and other communications with the membership, local and travel media. I acted as the association's legislative staffer and worked extensively with the association's director, board and lobbysists to advocate for the tourism industry. I was also responsible for organizing the association's annual legislative fly-in, coordinating meetings between our membership and Alaska's 60 state legislators.
