£100m+ turnover group of subsidiaries of the Rank Group plc in the process of being reorganised and sold. Responsibility for UK Financial Statements (2005/06), European management information and consolidation, UK P&L and cost control (sign off of £45k), cost control for French/Italian companies that were being wound down, information for due diligence process, budgeting, planning, satisfying auditors and all group reporting requirements. Dealt with legacy issues from across the European business, most significantly a £6m German VAT claim/audit which required extensive data mining of SAP archives for German and UK subsidiaries, complex analysis of the data, liaising with former employees and customers, liaising with PwC, Rank Group tax department and the tax authorities in Germany. Successfully managed the transition of the internally outsourced transaction processing from a subsidiary being sold to the Rank Group Gaming Division system (Oracle). Show less

FTSE 250 diversified group (based at small head office (approx. 30 people) Designed the business models for a proposed (£800m) gaming acquisition in 2002. These models were reused throughout my time at Rank for any significant refinancing/acquisition/disposal funding analysis including bond issuance of over £1bn and debt re-rating. Significantly involved in the (£450m) sales of the Film and Media divisions in 2005/06. In 2002 took the lead role on the preparation of the Interim Financial Statements as the Director of Financial Control was on maternity leave, reported directly to the Finance Director. Responsibility for Rank Group Finance plc, the main finance vehicle of the Group and related tax and treasury exposure (including hedging and analysis of current net debt levels/interest payments). Helped to design and refine the Hyperion group consolidation system, particularly with respect to the significant changes needed to meet IFRS reporting requirements. Member of the Group IFRS steering committee took a lead role in analysing the impact for the Media division and presenting changes to gathered group finance directors at a worldwide Rank conference. Also involved in the production of 20F Form to comply with US GAAP before deregistration in 2006. Redesigned the capital expenditure approval process for the Group’s larger projects to give better decision making. Also ran a Group wide project to resolve intercompany issues which involved reworking the intercompany confirmation process, liaising with and assigning responsibilities to about 40 colleagues worldwide. Frequently prepared ad-hoc project work for the FD, CEO and Investor Relations Director. Show less
