I joined Arup as a Graduate Engineer after finishing university. Initially specialized in Public Health engineering, I have quickly used my multi-disciplinary background to do Engineering Design across multiple teams including Building Services, Site Development and Water. Within the Public Health team I have been responsible for the detailed design of the domestic water and above ground drainage systems on a number of large building projects, leading the design for my discipline. I undertook a year long placement with Arup working as a part of the building structures team. This gave me exposure to the industry and some experience with structural engineering design. Whilst my practical experience of designing building structures in still limited, my understanding of how they work has greatly increased which has proved invaluable as I work in other aspects of building design.
