  At Research Affiliates, I took on the role of a software developer, working on financial applications relating to portfolio creation and research backtesting using historical financial data. I worked almost exclusively with Python 3 code, on a central repository consisting of 300,000 lines of code. Big projects I was involved in: * Adding multiprocessing capabilities to a staggered portfolio rebalancing routine, eliminating the need to run the process manually for hundreds of subportfolios. * Creation of several new products/portfolios to deliver to clients, which are still in production today. * Operational work to build and deliver portfolios to clients. * Breaking new ground on a simulation development kit for researchers to perform backtesting on existing portfolios, allowing for checking correctness of new portfolio strategies, and sourcing data to do these backtests. * Creation of helper Python applications to invoke Ansible scripts remotely on target servers, allowing for standardized execution and logging.
