•Advise the Department regarding safety protocols and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance with OSHA, EPA and NFPA. •Member of the Kentucky National Guard Anti/Terrorism Committee. •Oversee all safety requirement with the 9 division’s safety personnel. •Conduct routine and follow up safety and hazard inspections of department facilities. •Conducts job safety analysis for all divisions. •Recommend, design, develop and oversee the implementations of safety and technical training programs within the Department of Military Affairs. •Serve as DMA liaison for the Governor’s Executive Safety Advisory Committee. •Interpret & apply regulations, policies, procedures dealing with fire/safety •Update the monthly OSHA safety log and the end of year 300a. •Perform site inspections for all our facilities annually to ensure structural/safety compliance •Manage the transition plan in accordance with the ADA. •Conduct/analyze/investigate all accidents. •Manage/inspect all contracts/projects pertaining to the Fire Alarms, Fire Suppression Systems, Elevators, Rangehoods, Cranes and Extinguishers. •Advise supervisors and safety representatives from each Division of appropriate safety and occupational health measures to control or eliminate hazardous operating processes or environmental conditions. •This position ensures effective program implementation within the broad framework of congressional legislation, executive orders, state, DOD, Army, and National Guard Bureau policy, goals and objectives. •Certifications: asbestos worker course, asbestos inspector course, OSHA 30 hour general industry and 30 hour construction safety courses. • Served as Firefighter/Paramedic responding to all emergency and non emergency runs. • Appointed safety officer on Fire/HAZMAT/WMD incidents. • Served as the department training officer and SOP committee member. • Managed the EMT/Paramedic continuing education program. • Ensured all training rosters were signed and supported OSHA, NFPA and State regulations. • Prepared lesson plans enforcing state, OSHA and NFPA standards • Served on the Regional Hazardous Material Response Team. Retired in August of 2006 with full benefits by combining my previous fire service with my time served in the military. Show less
