  I worked as the head of finance for the Instructus (umbrella company) charitable group of companies preparing/collating and reviewing all financial requirements and reporting to the CEO and the trustees. I was the company secretary for the group and also oversaw and negotiated company acquisitions, disposals and group rationalisation. The charitable group of companies, consisted of up to 3 charities, 2 institutes and membership bodies and a training provider. Details of two of the companies are as follows; Skills CFA is a Standard Setting Body involved in the promotion and delivery of vocational (esp. apprenticeships) business administration skills and qualifications. Skills CFA is the second largest producer of apprenticeship certificates in the UK. Institute of Paralegals is a Membership Organisation whose aim is to raise the profile of paralegals in the UK and provide a focal point for paralegals. The biggest challenge was guiding an educational based charitable group through the worst of the recent recession in a period of vanishing government funding and massive structural change in the apprenticeship frameworks.   I worked for the Chairman Gianni Paladini who fronted a consortium of club owners consisting of Antonio Caliendo, Carlos Dunga and others. The club was in the first division and was in financial difficulties when I joined. I successfully kept the club afloat and worked together with an external team to sell the club to Flavio Briatorie, Bernie Ecclestone and Lakshmi Mittal.
