  I was invited to be part of the Investec Student week taking place at their Leeds office, myself and other interns joined the team, working on interactive tasks from various senior members of the office on topics ranging from portfolio planning to the importance of compliance in the wealth management world.Following the various talks we took part in projects based on planning the distribution of a fictitious clients capital into a portfolio comprising of funds and direct equity holdings… I was invited to be part of the Investec Student week taking place at their Leeds office, myself and other interns joined the team, working on interactive tasks from various senior members of the office on topics ranging from portfolio planning to the importance of compliance in the wealth management world.Following the various talks we took part in projects based on planning the distribution of a fictitious clients capital into a portfolio comprising of funds and direct equity holdings, taking note of the clients risk requirements and need for growth vs. Income, while taking care to be mindful of their moral and personal views on various sectors, alongside ESG factors.   I travelled to Honduras, in Central America, in 2012 with the charity as part of the initial team working to set up the ground work of a brand new project tracking Whale Shark movements in the Caribbean, in order to monitor their breeding patterns, monitoring coral health in the local reefs and setting up educational events in school and local fishing communities to inform others about the dangers of over-fishing the risk of invasive species. I conducted numerous scuba dives to gather data… I travelled to Honduras, in Central America, in 2012 with the charity as part of the initial team working to set up the ground work of a brand new project tracking Whale Shark movements in the Caribbean, in order to monitor their breeding patterns, monitoring coral health in the local reefs and setting up educational events in school and local fishing communities to inform others about the dangers of over-fishing the risk of invasive species.   I spent 6 months working in A J Bell’s offices in Manchester. For the first 3 months I worked in the Finance Department with the company credit controller who was unable to work full time having sustained a serious back injury. This involved managing and chasing up small and medium sized business clients on various overdue payments and work related expenditures, before working with their account managers to create payment plans tailored to their specific needs.For the next 3 months I… I spent 6 months working in A J Bell’s offices in Manchester. I worked both individually and as part of a small team on fiscal year-end tax matters that involved the creation and gathering of data, the creation of a company-wide record of each individual pension holder and the up to date values of their investments.
