Mark (Moks) was my manager when I worked at GXS (now OpenText). He hired me in 2013 as an Intermediate Systems Integrator to be part of his team. Coming from a supervisory support level, he questioned my qualification for the role since it was for a highly-technical job. It was a good thing he and I were able to meet at some point during that interview/discussion. His decision (or gamble) during that time paved the way for our great 5-year working relationship together, working with EDI and B2B Systems Integration. For the next two years, we have achieved great results and received several commendations/recognitions from both off-shore and on-shore stakeholders (colleagues and clients). We worked together on both integrations and non-integrations related activities, with some beer at the side (sometimes). The first two years were great, but the next years were even better. On the third year, we worked together on projects that helped and enabled resources outside our organization (cross-functional). Within the same year, with his help and guidance, I got promoted as a Senior Systems Integrator. He gave me my own team to lead, mentor, and manage. I was able to deeply better my technical capabilities and develop my people management skills. It was not all happily ever after, but for most parts, everything else were success stories both for us and for the integrators we managed and led. We continued to rock for three years more until we parted ways in 2018. He is one of the people I am thankful for, during my first years when I got back to my highly-technical career path. He is someone whom I will continue to look up to in terms of technical solutions/implementations and people management capabilities. Good luck on your future endeavors, Sir Mark.
