Student Researcher
-
Jun 2021 - Mar 2022
Alongside two other student researchers, I worked under Dr. Liz Smith of the Furman Political Science Department to develop Dr. Smith's existing academia highlighting issues of diversity and inclusion within student government organizations at top universities across the country. Our research combines a political science approach with a sociological theory of leadership to better understand the role "unexpected" leaders play on college campuses. Especially pertinent due to the rise in social activism in the past five years, this project aims to solidly the notion that SGA is a powerful political training ground for future leaders. The results of this project will be presented at the Southern Political Science Association Conference located in San Antonio, occurring in January of 2022.
