  On the last Friday of March all Nieuwe Garde Foundations activate to host 8 Uur Overwerken voor het Goede Doel (8UO - 8 Hours of Overtime for the Good Cause). This year in The Hague we were welcomed by T-Mobile! During 8UO five good causes bring in five cases for five teams of creative minds to work on, all night long. This can vary from strategic advice, to new logo design. Designers have to have a wide scope of the company and its goals in order to come up with good design. Providing good causes with this Design Thinking expertise we all help to make the world a little bit better, provide playspaces for the creatives and the good causes with a next step in their development. Also within the teams there is a lot of connecting going on! Working with interdisciplinary teams everyone can learn from each other. It is often that people keep working together after the event!All people, from organization to participants, are volunteers.During the event participants work with various creative techniques for brainstorming, prototyping and testing. We provide an additional program as well to the good causes to network and learn more about The Hague. With speakers, 8 minutes of overtime, and Qi Gong we combine creativity, effective working techniques and expertise to have an awesome night!My role here was project leader. I managed relations between T-Mobile and the 8UO project team. Weekly meetings and event coordination assistance were part of the job. On the night of 8UO I was the moderator, making sure to make the event had a complete storyline and everyone was having fun! Show less

The NSKS implements the ancient knowledge adapted for these times and environment (On Ko Shi Shin). I'm an avid student, in my second year of the Shiatsu study. We aim to bring together entrepreneurs, NGO's, government, knowledge institutions, and impact investors to accelerate the transition into a more sustainable world.As the communication manager I apply various creative techniques (persona's, customer journeys, online analytics, offline tools) to come to customer segmentation, engagement and strengthening the community and potential members/partners.   The iMPACT Booster is an accelerator project for social startups in the agricultural sector. The first edition closed off with an inspiring event labelled Demo Day. I've had the pleasure to work closely with the program to design this event and moderate it as well. Aim of this event was to provide the entrepreneurs with a stage for their inspiring ideas to connect with investors. Furthermore this was the showcase for the program itself, connecting with potential investors and future participants. By connecting the stage with the audience as a moderator an atmosphere was created for open conversation and exchange of experience and expertise.   With the project Hack Your Education (HYE) students learn to take a critical look at what they want from life and how they can use their education to get there. Valuable energy is wasted working on fictitious projects during school with the results ending up in the bin. With HYE students learn to use the resources provided to them by University to develop their passion and graduate not only with a diploma, but being a thought leader in their sector as well! Teachers and students worked side by side to develop the curriculum as they went along. Looking back on this pilot this was a success and the followup project is already on its way. During this project I was the critical thinker, giving feedback on the co-creating process and the communication between teacher and student. I redesigned the workbook to a concept that Education Energy, the company behind HYE, could use as a basis for implementation. Show less

  Every year the Nieuwe Garde Den Haag organizes 8 Uur Overwerken voor het Goede Doel (8 Hours of Overtime for a Non-profit Organization) in The Hague. For this event five non-commercial organizations are asked to provide a case that they have been struggling with. These cases will be looked at by a team of volunteers active mainly in the creative sector (media, communications, arts, et cetera). This event lasts from 6pm-2am and enjoyed an international debut this year, with each city their own version of the event. It is all organized by volunteers, of which I handled the recruitment of the non-commercial organizations, or 'good causes'. Show less

  Stichting Lamadabadoe organizes events for young children that are located in the disadvantaged neighborhoods of the city of Utrecht. Twice a year a set of 2 or 3 days are scheduled where they are invited to join a day of fun in and around the park of Fort Ruigenhoek. They set out to enthuse these kids about what nature has to offer them, hoping to inspire them to get more involved with and educated about the natural environment. Since 2011 I have been volunteering as the online media manager, managing their website and social media such as Hyves. Furthermore, once or twice every six months we meet to discuss the course of the stichting, the positioning, the game materials used, etcetera. Show less

  8UO is an initiative from the Nieuwe Garde trying to reach out to the members of the community to get involved. Each year an event is organized in nine different cities is the Netherlands, focused on a novel topic. After years of helping Rode Kruis, Dierenambulance Den Haag, and Juliana Kinderziekenhuis, the department of the Hague decided last year to help a certain neighborhood in the Hague to realize and eventually fix some organizational discrepancies that have led to a suboptimal financial position. By inviting several stakeholders from residents, to entrepreneurs, to outside experts in urbanization and other fields, for a brainstorm session that lasts approximately eight hours. This has been my first year attending as a volunteer, both on organizational as participant level. I have done preliminary market research on the problems and stakeholders at hand which I have presented before all stakeholders at the event. Furthermore, I acted as an overseer during the event.   Lebkov is a healthy fast food company that specializes is good coffee and sandwiches. The service is very good, and the team works well together. There is a lot of autonomy given to each employee, although there are strict guidelines in place for preparing all food and beverages. During my employment I have been asked to assist in many managerial tasks. The location of the Hague was still in its early development, which opted for a lot of creative problem solving skills. As we changed from management a couple of times, it was only logical that the long-term employees helped out in several managerial areas. Next to delivering orders in the region of the Hague, I have assisted in hiring and firing, forming the menu, inventory, purchase orders, business process streamlining, etcetera. Show less
