I provided assistance to refugee and migrant children in enhancing their English language proficiency and building confidence in completing their homework. The age range of the children I assisted spanned from Year 6 to A-Level students, although my primary focus was on Year 6 to GCSE level students. The program's effectiveness was evident through observed improvements in the children's English language skills and academic grades. During my year 10 work experience, I was privileged to work with the Refugee Council for a duration of two weeks. This opportunity allowed me to acquire and refine various skills which have proved to be useful over the years. Specifically, I developed competencies in multitasking, organisation, and empathy towards refugee and asylum seekers' families. Furthermore, I had the occasion to travel to different cities to meet with families and conduct activities. I visited York and Wakefield, in addition to working in Leeds. I was also entrusted with the task of designing activity packs for families to utilise in exploring their respective cities. Show less
