Lancaster, PA As the research intern for the Family Medicine Residency Program at Penn Medicine LGH, I have worked closely with attending physicians and residents to formulate and execute studies aimed at improving the quality of care and identifying inequities in care within the family medicine practice. Through use of programs such as EPIC and RedCap, I conduct chart reviews to pull data across hundreds of patients and present these results to the residents for further development.

I spoke with patients, helped with assessments, listened in on grand rounds, presented patient charts, and was invited to lunch to talk with the surgeons in between procedures. Show less

Hershey, Pennsylvania, United States My work at this lab began as a three-month internship for my proposed research where I investigated alternative natural and chemical insulin sensitizers for the drug metformin and analyzed their respective impacts on beta-amyloid production in both wild type H63D hemochromatosis (HFE) gene and H63D (HFE) mutant human neuroblastoma cells. I presented this work as a Finalist at the International Science and Engineering Fair. I presented this work as a Finalist at the International Science and Engineering Fair. While in college, I then continued this project as a full-time researcher over two summers, where I focused my research on further investigation of the HFE mutant cell lines and their relationship to neurodegenerative disease via cellular iron overload.
