In March 2022, we merged with Wayfinder Resources and have ownership in over 800 wells. As the Controller, I brought all accounting functions in house from a third party consulting firm and implemented and designed all new accounting procedures and software. My role encompasses multiple companies, including interests as a non-operated company as well as an operating company that span over multiple states. I oversee and perform all accounting functions, including financial statements, accounts payable, accounts receivable, joint interest billings, revenue distributions, cash management, expense reporting, document management, bi-weekly liquidity reporting, and accounting related presentations to the board of directors. Weir Oil and Gas, a Scotland publicly traded company, is a global engineering firm with solutions for the oil and gas services industry via divisions for manufacturing wellhead and frac equipment, conventional frac stack rentals and patented simplified frac iron system, and surface control equipment rentals for drilling and completion operations. In the new created position of Southern Regional Financial Manager, I performed within the finance team and collaborated with operations, sales, purchasing, and commercial operations teams to operate all facets of the business efficiently and with transparency for the Southern region of pressure and surface control divisions with 7 locations throughout New Mexico, Texas, and Louisiana. I was responsible for training managers on how to read financials, and giving guidance to all levels of staff, and I was able to clear up error reports and reduce coding errors by 80%. I successfully wrote and obtained approval for the first Weir patented simplified frac iron system for the Permian basin, which had to be approved by the CFO, COO and CEO at Scotland Weir Group. My day-to-day duties included the three-day monthly close process for all Southern locations with general ledger review and journal and accrual entries, Master Business Review meetings with regional staff and then divisional directors, the capital expenditures process and business case with financial analysis, fleet tracking, monitoring payroll, fixed asset tracking and audit, inventory oversight and physical counts and A/P and A/R staff guidance. Dec 2009 - Sep 2017
Crump Energy Partners is a Private Equity funded Quantum Energy Partners Portfolio Company founded in 2009, focused on Non-Operated Exploration & Production. Crump Energy Partners divested to Linn Energy in 2013 as part of a $550M deal; Crump Energy Partners II divested to Marathon Oil Company in 2017 as part of a $1.1B deal. At the company's peak, I was the Controller for interests in over 500 wells with over 50 operators as well as over 40 other partnerships, trusts, and holding companies. I also acted as the Interim controller for start-ups Oryx Midstream (1 year) and Foundation Minerals (1 1/2 years). During my tenure, Crump Energy passed every annual audit with no audit adjustments ever required and I led the accounting process and tax partnership for three companies merging into a joint venture that created the largest privately held reserves in the Delaware Basin. My responsibilities as a Controller in an extremely lean environment included quarterly financial statements, tax schedules and coordination on the annual tax preparation, creation and implementation of procedures and internal controls, budget modeling with an accuracy rating within 10%, reservoir well analysis, complex acquisition accounting, derivative accounting, payout calculations, joint interest billings, revenue distributions, tracking of new drill expenditures of approx. $100M annually as part of capital expenditures budget, accounts payable, banking and reporting, board book preparation and redesign, scorecard and dashboard creation and maintenance. Regional Staff Accountant - South Permian Basin
-
Jun 2008 - Feb 2009
In 2008, the corporate headquarters for Basic Energy Services was in Midland and it had the third largest fleet of well servicing rigs in the United States with a count of over 400 rigs and total annual corporation revenues over $1B. In the newly created position of Regional Staff Accountant for the Southern Permian Basin Region, I worked hand-in-hand with the Regional Controller in a region consisting of seven yards providing workover rigs, wireline, fluid services, frac tank rentals, and the largest plugging and abandonment operations in the Permian. Well servicing was 34% of the corporation’s revenues and the South Permian Basin Region encompassed 42% of that division as the largest region with approx. annual revenues over $140M. I was directly involved in the transition and merger for the $17M acquisition of Triple N Services. A significant accomplishment was overseeing five contract workers in preparing for a 2 1/2-year International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) corporate wide compliance audit in which my region was found acceptable and saved the company from having a fine multiplier and millions of dollars in additional fines. An efficiency was achieved which reduced errors and increased processing efficiency by 50% via a creation of a redesigned process for yard staff payroll. My day-to-day responsibilities entailed regional accounts payable and receivable oversight, payroll for all yard staff, the AFE process including processing of regional capital expenditure authorizations totaling approx. $1M per month, monthly close process including all journal and accrual entry creation, scorecard financial tracking, IFTA reporting, cash management including petty cash guardianship, fixed assets oversight, budget projections, change orders for cell phones and all gas and credit cards, and regional IT requests and issues.
