Marisa is a pioneer in the development of in vitro methods in the field of efficacy and safety of cosmetics, dermatological products and medical devices. In particular, she identified early the potential of reconstructed human tissues to develop innovative screening platforms and to explore new domains (microbiota, immunity, sensory...). Another specificity that I appreciated during my interactions with Vitroscreen is the network of academic experts with whom she collaborates to insure a highly sharp support for projects carried out. If I had to summarize in a few words the strong points I would say expertise, innovation, anticipation and kindness

Today, VitroScreen is organized in four different, although seamlessly integrated, Business Units: 1. A GLP testing facility for in vitro toxicology; 2. An in vitro preclinical testing service unit offering state of the art technologies, off the shelf 3D human tissues, mucosae and micro tissue models with very high proximity to human physiology, thus offering robust and reproducible evidence in safety and efficacy of drugs, chemical, cosmetics, medical devices, food supplements; 3. The Center of Excellence for in vitro science with a wide and growing range of 3D human tissue, mucosae and micro tissue technologies, operating as an extension of Customers’ safety and efficacy programs and supporting them in areas as diversified as the body barriers and body organs. The main competences of the Center of Excellence encompass: A) A research platform for the development and production of customized human organoids: healthy and pathologies derived cells and patients’ cells for personalized medicine, increasing the ability to predict effective treatments for individual patients. B) A research platform for the study of microbiome on human barriers mainly focusing on the host response that is the driver of our microbiome research project. 4. A Consultancy Unit supporting Customers in high level strategies related to regulatory aspects based on in vitro toxicology for chemicals and finished products and for Medical Devices biological evaluation.
