Habitat Charlotte (recently renamed to Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region) is one of the largest affiliates in the country; since our recent merger with Habitat Our Towns, we are now the third largest affiliate in the nation by number of projects. Habitat Charlotte has been named an Affiliate of Distinction, and has served over 2,000 families in the Charlotte area. I currently work within the Existing Homes team, which repurchases older Habitat homes and fixes them up to be sold back to more Habitat families. Show less

    • Hired Student Staff Leader- First Year Student Outreach Projects 25, 26, & 27
      • Apr 2015 - Aug 2017

I have been hired as a staff leader for the First Year Student Outreach Project three times during by time at BU. Each time I had to apply, and be interviewed, both in group and individual settings. In 2015, as a sophomore, I was hired to be part of the Environment focus area's staff team. My responsibilities included: summer research & video conferences with coordinators, returning to BU two weeks prior to the Fall semester, one week of intensive educational and leadership training, and one week of leading a group of 15 first years (with two fellow staff members). Throughout our time engaging with the program, we focused on learning about local issues and efforts pertaining to the Environment & conservation. Then, we did days of service with local community partners that related to our focus area. We did, also, do as much intersectional learning as we had time to. I had the same responsibilities when hired as a Public Health Staff, but pertaining to issues and efforts in the Public Health field. This year, however, the process was much different. Show less
