  In 1982 Horst Dassler (adidas) founded the International marketing company Sport and Leisure (ISL ). The company acquired international sports federations event rights and marketed these rights to sponsors, TV stations or licensees. The first order was received from FIFA for the Soccer World Cup 1986 in Mexico. Within a few years ISL became the world's largest company for the marketing of international sporting events. The client list of ISL included in the 1990 addition of FIFA, the International Olympic Committee (IOC ), the World Associations in Athletics ( IAAF), Swimming ( Fina ) and the Tennis ATP organization. Due to huge losses ISL was forced to declare bankruptcy in May 2001.
