Purpose of the role: Contribute to achievement of global leadership by ensuring our competitiveness through Optimum reach in terms of market coverage and intensity of our sales activities in the markets; influencing the right content and delivery for the given markets and adequate pricing; developing long term high value relationships with partners and stake holders in educational markets; exceeding sales targets ultimately. In addition to the core accountabilities of my previous role, my territory was expanded by 12 additional, mature and competitive markets at this point, so I became responsible for the sales budget of 19,1 million sterling, and cost budget of 2,2 million. Most notable achievements:o Facilitated transition from print (rental system) to digital delivery (purchase) in Netherlands through optimal pricing and margins policies arrived at through complex, but collaborative negotiations with distributors and bookhouses;o Refocused our activities and approach to sales targetting/team management in BeNeLux, Germany and Switzerland, ensuring tracked, commercially effective approach in line with OUP vision and values;o Re-constructed team/market coverage in Switzerland, BeNeLux and France improving sales to cost ratio;o Improved our margins and competitiveness of our local pricing by reconstructing distribution network in Belgium, Croatia and France by terminating exclusivities/introducing replacements for underperforming distributors;o Improved our margins on dictionaries in Germany by 10% through successful negotiation with Cornelsen;o Successfully recruited Area Managers for UK and CH, and developed the other six, bringing three of them up to the next level and international responsibilities Show less
