Working on the JET2.com team, I lead a small number of testers to create test cases and carry out manual and automated testing for Jet2 eCommerce developments using AGILE methods. I am actively involved in sizing and planning. I advocated a full rewrite of the Regression Pack for eCommerce and am currently undertaking this task, ensuring that it is up to date and formatted in a way that tests can easily be extracted for Automation. I managed the resourcing of multiple IT development projects across several teams, totalling approx 100 people. I also managed the budgets of several areas. The teams I organised the workload for were spread across 3 locations (Leeds / Sheffield / Windsor) so a lot of travelling and conference calling was required. There were often conflicting calls on people's time, and priorities changed constantly due to business needs and pressures, so communication skills and logical / creative thinking… Show more I managed the resourcing of multiple IT development projects across several teams, totalling approx 100 people. Projects at first direct fell into two main categories; mandatory, because of either government regulations or changes to global systems by the parent company HSBC, and discretionary, which enhance the systems and give great benefits to their customers. The former tend to deliver less tangible benefits and therefore there are greater challenges presented in order to gain business co-operation. The former tend to deliver less tangible benefits and therefore there are greater challenges presented in order to gain business co-operation. This was often achieved by combining these projects with smaller discretionary projects that required development in the same area. The financial market is very fast moving, and the greatest pressure we operated under was getting new initiatives out to the customer as soon as possible to gain maximum market advantage. The customer experience is always top priority, but in the background it was my job to ensure that the quality/time/cost triangle was kept as equilateral as possible. As Project Leader, I lead several projects across two mainframe disciplines. Each of these projects involved extensive contact with various business areas and also contact with the technical teams with our parent company, HSBC. A key project I was involved in was the FSA Regulatory Mortgage changes which was broken down into smaller projects across the same two mainframe disciplines. This again involved close contact with the business to understand how current procedures work and how they need to change, and liaison with the legal and compliance teams to ensure that the changes being made comply with FSA requirements. I also had to liaise with other IT teams to co-ordinate the changes across the various platforms. Alongside the project management element, this role also included line management of the team, including KPI & objective setting, monthly 1:1s, appraisals, recognition/promotion and disciplinary actions where necessary. I was also involved in the external and internal recruitment process for new team members.
