  Within the 510 data & digital team of the Netherlands Red Cross, I work as Data Team Lead in close collaboration with the Operations Team Lead and Digital Team Lead to plan and assign the team resources on projects. I’m responsible for the day-to-day management of a highly skilled and flexible team of 11 data analysts, data scientists, data engineers, data & information Managers and GIS/remote sensing experts. My responsibilities include: - Ensure the team is trained and prepared for international surge deployments- Assess surge requests within the team to make people available- Monitor the capacity of the team to make sure we can deliver products & services timely- Project and program planning of ongoing and future projects on data analytics in 510- Setting data analytics standards across projects- Keep a high standard of using the 510 data catalog across all projects and products. - Support the implementation of the 510 data responsibility policy, to access and mitigate risks of using data and analytics in our projects. - Business development of 510 data projects and writing technical grants- Thematic coordinator for the Water & Landscape restoration project agenda Show less

  Within the 510 team of the Netherlands Red Cross, I work with the implementation of Forecast-based Financing projects mainly concentrated on floods and droughts. My responsibilities are focussed on developing impact forecast models used in risk assessment and trigger model in early action protocols. 510 is a self-organizing data innovation initiative of the Netherlands Red Cross. Our vision is that smart use of (big) data will help towards faster and more (cost) effective humanitarian aid at a global level. Contributing to open data, data analyses and capacity building in governments and NGOs are essential to increase the understanding of humanitarian data. Show less

  My research is part of Forecast-based Financing pilot in Malawi focusing on agricultural drought forecast. The objective of my study is to support humanitarian decision makers in their disaster preparedness by increasing the accuracy of agricultural drought forecast to reduce crop failure and food shortage in Malawi by using remote sensing data to perform an accurate forecast with agro-climatic indices. This project is the first pilot ran for 3 weeks fulltime. My challenge is to generate out-of-the-box ideas about Solar Radiation Management sollutions for decreasing global warming as an example: cloud seeding. De activiteiten zijn na een aanloop periode vooral vraaggestuurd, wat betekent dat behoefte van de voortgezet onderwijs-scholen uitgangspunten zijn voor de programmering. Mijn werkzaamheden waren tijdens deze periode voornamelijk het opzetten van een werkend CRM-systeem. Show less
