The Postmasters have choices to make concerning their individual business, ensuring its viability and future success. In my role I manage them through the complete process: presenting and exploring the options available to them; assessing and understanding what level of help they need and delivering this to them accordingly. For example, using my retail expertise I can advise them on how to improve customer footfall and flow, use promotions to good advantage, better market themselves, reduce costs and increase margins. I am involved in site planning, shop layouts and work with internal departments to deliver alterations, equipment and services through an agreed schedule of work. By working closely with the Premises Team and Shop Fitters I then manage the project to either modernise their office or relocate to new premises. I have to adhere to the Equality Act/DDA within the Property designs. As part of the transformation program I am responsible for getting new contracts signed and keeping the projects in budget which can lead to extra funds being applied for which I conduct and present to the Executive team. Within my day to day activities I tackle issues and find solutions, for example fitting in fixed sized counters into a small space, this includes putting together a business case and presenting to the executive team if an alternative solution is found. Each case has many stakeholders and I have met with MPs and Councils to present our plans and answer their questions. I put together Press Releases and managing consultation materials. I use Social Media to keep up to date on retail and also teach others how to use Social Media to promote their business. I play a strong role within my team, we are spread across the South of the UK and I have put together social events for us. I cover for my Line Manager when he is on leave.
