      Marie is a Shareholder and practice leader of the firm’s Appellate Practice Group. Her practice has centered on appellate representation for over 20 years, and she has been a Florida Bar Board Certified Appellate Practice Lawyer since 2001. Marie's practice is principally devoted to handling appeals involving a broad range of matters, including professional and medical malpractice defense, products liability claims, and complex commercial, property tax, land use and real estate disputes. In addition, Marie assists the firm’s litigation groups with the preparation of dispositive motions and complex legal memoranda. Marie has appeared extensively before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the Florida Supreme Court, and Florida’s District Courts of Appeal. Marie also serves as counsel to lawyers outside of the firm on both appellate and complex legal and procedural litigation matters. These services include advice regarding appellate rules, procedures and strategies; editing of briefs and legal memoranda; and representation as co-counsel in appellate proceedings. In addition to her appellate advocacy for clients of the firm, Marie is also a mental health advocate and co-founder of the Florida non-profit corporation, Changing Minds of Tampa Bay, Inc. In her capacity as President of Changing Minds, Marie works on building alliances with other Tampa Bay based and national mental health organizations, with the goal of improving the lives of individuals suffering from mental health conditions. Marie also works with the Hillsborough County School Board and area public and private schools to advocate for mental wellness initiatives on behalf of students in the Tampa Bay area.
