I loved working with Marianne in Culture Campus at The University of Hull, in 2019, shortly after the Hull City of Culture year. Marianne has a strong ethical and moral instinct to programme powerful and diverse creative exhibitions and events that make a difference and start conversations. I loved being part of her team, supporting her to put brave nationally important events together and to support the conversations (with talks, debates, films etc) that came from the exhibitions and events. From the impressive high spec Brymor Jones Gallery in the middle of the University Campus to the Middleton Hall Theatre. From installing accessible augmented reality sculptures to exciting exhibitions looking at transformational art movements in the prison reform system (centering around Joesph Beuys work). With launches hosting guests such as Andrew Marr, Richard De Marco and Reece Shearsmith. Working with Marianne was (and still is) exciting, interesting and fun.

Marianne is very conscientious and has good people skills. She worked on a number of projects which resulted in a positive outcomes for my company. Should the situation arise, I would be more than happy to employ Marianne on a permanent basis.

The Culture Campus Office was created to maintain the momentum gained from the City of Culture year and to ensure the University remains at the heart of culture in the city, the region and beyond. As the Head of Culture Campus I was responsible for creating a cultural strategy for the University to help maintain the momentum gained during City of Culture and creating cultural partnerships, which help further the objectives of the University, benefit students and support and enhance the cultural programme on campus. Working closely with departments, faculties, partners and collaborators, I am creating and implementing a Cultural Programme Strategy, which includes a Visiting Artistic Director scheme and ensures that students and our research are at the heart of the cultural activities on campus.

I managed the City of Culture Campus Office to ensure successful delivery of the University’s contribution to Hull’s year as UK City of Culture. Together with the Executive Producers at Hull2017 and working in partnership with academics, students and staff across the University, I was leading on the development and creation of the University’s cultural programme for 2017. Building relationships across the University by engaging with faculties, departments/ schools and professional service centres. Working closely with the City of Culture Company on the strategic and creative delivery of the partnership. I worked closely with the central marketing team develop a marketing plan and communications strategy relating to the cultural programme and the university’s work around City of Culture 2017 internally and externally. Managed the cultural programme budget. Establish communication lines and feedback processes to be used across the workstreams. All activities were aligned to the strategic plan and supported the objectives for the City of Culture year. I managed key stakeholder relationships through regular progress updates and acted as ambassador and champion for the project. Through our activities and events continued to build partnerships/ networks/ links with external organisations. Overseeing the organisation and co-ordination of City of culture related events on campus. Using the year to bring together the cultural programme on campus under one vision and use the programme to amplify the voice of the University around creativity, cultural value, progress and leadership.
