As an academic tutor I work directly with parents and teachers to coordinate instruction to meet the individual needs of students who are struggling to maintain the academic rigor in the classroom and need additional support. I conduct assessments and design a curriculum to focus on strengthening and supporting students in the areas where there are skill deficits. I cover everything from language arts (reading fluency, comprehension, writing), math (skill building, math facts, strategies) to behavioral issues (focus/attention, anxiety, oppositional/defiance). Intervention Specialist: Language Arts/Math/Behavior

I worked with both teachers, para educators and students to select and develop curriculum to support strong Tier 2 intervention strategies. I conducted, recorded and analyzed all of the reading assessments (DIBELS) and consulted with teachers as to which students needed interventions and progress monitoring. I trained all of the paraeducators on a variety of interventions as well as progress monitoring techniques. I held in-service trainings and met regularly with faculty to ensure quality instruction was being maintained. I taught whole class reading strategy classes and observed in the classrooms. I was part of the Special Ed team and made recommendations based on formative and summative assessments as well as personal interactions with the students. I acted as LEA for IEP meetings and helped teachers write concrete, measurable goals for students. I organized parent math and language arts nights to provide parents with tools to support their students at home. I also worked with small groups specifically on behavior issues and social skills.
