Mariana and I worked together during her placement at StarJam. She is extremely hard-working and always completed tasks to a very high standard. Mariana is a fast and competent learner and contributed to key projects at StarJam, including the new website refresh and CRM database implementation. She is an excellent problem-solver and goes above and beyond to deliver positive outcomes. As well as her fantastic work ethic, Mariana has a great sense of humour and a delight to be around.

The role and responsibilities of this job are: I always pick two primary aged girls up from their school and drive them back home. I also instruct the girls to get changed and bring their lunchboxes to tidy up. Then the girls can get their afternoon snacks. With art resources or games we entertain ourselves until their parent gets home. Sometimes there are circumstances changes, I would take them to the playgrounds or library and buy the afternoon snacks for them too. I manage the time well and keep in touch with the parents, too. I worked at EduKids to gain work experience for Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood. I learnt to adapt to the environment quickly and developed good relationships with both teachers and young children. I was responsible for working with young children by communicating with them and teaching them with educational resources. I also helped with daily tasks such as preparing the morning tea/lunch/afternoon tea, cleaning tables, and supervising the children for their safety. When I was an administration intern for StarJam, I was working on two projects during the time - one was for my internship and one was for my tertiary study placement with IBL which stands for Industry Based Learning at UNITEC. I had gained a lot of skills required in the previous job, for example, administration skills, teamwork, problem-solving, communication skills and time management skill. I proved myself as a friendly and fast learner in working with my previous colleagues at StarJam as I helped to complete many tasks and projects for them. I am a slight perfectionist and always need to make sure that I am on the right track by asking my previous boss and colleagues for their guidance. I can work independently and is very reliable to the team. I also learnt how to use the basic Photoshop by using Adobe Photoshop Editor. I am very familiar with using Microsoft Office suite: Excel, Word and Powerpoint. At StarJam, I used Excel for tasks like; copy and paste the spreadsheets, searching a person’s name from the list of the spreadsheet, etc. I also compare both spreadsheet and the database to check correct details are entered; like the right name, right address, right phone number and etc. It is to ensure that they were all up to date.
