Day-to-day lab activities involve creating extracts, culturing bacteria, and prepping samples for analysis. I currently work on a project related to the Hawaiin bobtail squid and its symbionts. The project focuses on co-culturing and how that alters secondary metabolite production. I previously worked on a project related to the antibiotic activity of a Delftia species on the ESKAPE pathogen A. baumannii. That project involved creating organic and aqueous extracts and analyzing them through liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry.
