Through this internship, I participated in development work such as DEI training, engage in civic activism and policy efforts, and converse with various expert guests. I also traveled to DC and met with half a dozen US Representatives and Senators to discuss the enactment of various policies targeted towards mitigating discrimination and racism in the US and the world abroad. I gained valuable skills that will serve me well in any career, including policy research and analysis, communication, diplomacy, and general knowledge of governmental affairs. Show less

The Borgen Project is a nonprofit organization that works to inform, engage, and mobilize the public to encourage the US congress to support legislation that benefits the global economy and helps to eradicate poverty. I was chosen in the top 5% of applicants from prestigious universities as the only high school student to participate in this internship. I published six articles on the Borgen Blog and five articles in the Borgen Magazine, multiple of which were awarded Article of the Month. Over the course of the internship, I raised over $1,400 to advocate for global poverty and personally lobbied many congressmen and senators to encourage foreign aid. I was then chosen to continue writing as a guest contributor, a position that I have held since the conclusion of my internship. Show less
