Whilst I was UK FD for OCS, Maria reported to me as manager of the credit control and cash collection function. She managed a very large team during a period a complex and challenging change. With very tough cash collection and DSO targets, Maria developed, led and managed a plan to turn around the cash collection performance. The new plan involved creating new targets, new measurement and control processes. and driving a cultural change across the whole OCS organisation to ensure that there was a constant focus on driving down DSO. Maria led this through liaising with very senior management and developing relationships with key customers. Over a six month period, and as a direct result of her efforts and leadership, the DSO reduced from 78 days to 38 days, creating a very significant improvement in the OCS cash position.
