  The aim of my PhD thesis is the investigation of the Digital Elevation Models’ reliability and their impact on the landslide research and on the movement of the sliding mass. The aforementioned research will be achieved with the use of Digital Elevation Models – DEM and airphoto stereopairs. More specifically, free available DEMs as ASTER GDEM, SRTM DEM, ALOS AW3D30 DEM, DEM from the topographic map of the Hellenic Military Geographical Service (HMGS) which is created by digitized contours from topographic maps, DEM from the photogrammetric airphoto process and DEM which produced by the Symbolometric processing of radar images, will be used. Particular emphasis will be put on the distinction between Digital Reference Models, Digital Surface Models and the effect that vegetation has on the calculation of sliding mass motion. Show less

  • Processing of airphotos with the use of AutocadMap 2014 in order to describe the form and the character of a forest area from 1945 and on. The results of this procedure are usually applied in court cases (especially between land owners and the Forestry Principle). • Creation of topographic diagrams (through AutocadMap 2014) which designate forest areas that were former private properties that came to forest principle’s disposal after the reconsidering of the forestry legislation. These topographic diagrams are prerequisites for the landowners to apply for the de-characterization of the forest areas in order to rebuy their properties from the Forestry Principle. • Economical and technical studies which include the geology, geomorphology, hydrology, population, land uses, constructions of an area and the financial procedure of a variety of tree (olive trees, vineyards, corn) in the aforementioned area in a period of five years. These studies are obligatory for clients who want to redeem and cultivate a forest area. Show less
