For my Spring 2021 Semester I was honored to be a part of the Art & Design Team for Measure Magazine. I was selected to be a part of the Art & Design Team to contribute my artistic vision for the redesigned fashion magazine for Marist College. Myself and six other students worked for 12 weeks on digitally creating the layout and aesthetic for the pages of the magazine. I was able to utilize and strengthen my skills in digital design. Weekly, I created new layouts and came prepared with new concepts. This experience allowed me to have creative freedom as well as follow the industry standard of magazine creation.

During Market Week I worked as an intern for Halston. Another student intern and I dressed models and organized the showroom over a nine hour work day. This was my first hands-on experience within the fashion industry, and though only one day, I gained a new love for the industry. Halston had buyers coming in from Saks to Intermix to Bloomingdales, so it was very important that everything ran smoothly and professionally. Some key things I learned that day were; I had to be quick on my feet, think fast and smartly, never be scared to be a leader, take control of an out of control situation, and stay organized. There was a moment when the outfits set up for a showing were incorrect and needed to be changed quickly. I applied the skills listed above and came up with a new system of organizing the back showroom to make it easier to get the models quickly in and out of new outfits for the buyers.

As a sales associate, during my breaks from college, I gained skills in organization, customer service, communication, problem-solving, time management, and product knowledge. In addition, I have a better understanding of the inner workings of how the product gets from supplier to customer. I was noted for being excellent with customers and giving advice and knowledge on fashion and the products sold by Urban Outfitters. I was also given the opportunity to do some managerial jobs like setting up the store displays to make the products more desirable to customers.
