I completed my Ph.D. within the International International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS) at the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research and the University of Cologne in "Role of evolutionary conserved MAP kinase C-terminal regions in transcriptional activation in Arabidopsis thaliana" My main research focused on identifying a potential new function of Mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinases. These plant proteins are central signaling components and mediate intracellular signaling in numerous physiological processes such as plant development and defense. To determine the new function of these proteins, I performed several trans-activation assays in Arabidopsis protoplast. Additionally, I generated transgenic lines of these plant MAP kinases to determine their physiological function. • Cloning techniques (PCR, DNA-Isolation, and Transformation of bacteria and yeast) • Biomolecular techniques (Biomolecular Fluorescence Complementation, Western Blots, Co-Immunoprecipitation) • Isolation and transformation of Arabidopsis protoplasts • Sample preparation for Mass Spectrometry • Generation of Arabidopsis transgenic lines

I studied the different biotic and abiotic components that affected the cultivation of ornamental plants in the fields. Moreover, I identified pathogenic bacteria responsible for plant disease using different morphological, biochemical, and molecular techniques.
