Preliminary research project title: "Moving Boundaries - An Ecological Understanding of the Body in Sport" Challenging the physical basis for a cultural and philosophical human-nature divide that is our bodily borders, I will study the body as an open ecosystem, human movement as an ecological process, and the implications of permeable boundaries on the motility and autonomy of living creatures. One often hear from environmentalists that our species is "dependent on nature", therefore we must save it from catastrophic climate and nature change. More so than a matter of survival as biological creatures, in what way are we also ontologically dependent on our border-external ecology as reflective and goal-oriented beings? How does intentional movement accrue on a socioecological level, on the basis of and nevertheless categorically different from our sub(/body)conscious biochemical dependency? Humbled and excited by the opportunity and open to any requests for conversation or collaboration on proximal research topics (email: margrethvs@nih.no). Show less
