Professor Saulnier was an incredible mentor and resource during my time at Northeastern. Her lectures were always engaging, and her class projects were applicable to real nonprofit work, concert planning, or creative brainstorming. Professor Saulnier’s Performing Arts Administration class in 2013 was my first introduction to much of the nonprofit world -- fundraising, public relations, artistic planning and curating, budgeting, and more. I also was fortunate enough to work with Professor Saulnier on my Honors in the Discipline project during spring 2016, which focused on music education. Her connections in the arts and education communities of Boston and beyond were so helpful, as was her expertise on presenting research thoroughly and succinctly. Professor Saulnier was also the moderator of a panel on the challenges women face in the music industry, where her thoughts and experiences among the group of female leaders were inspiring. I'm so grateful I had to the opportunity to work with her during my time at NU, and would highly recommend her to anyone!

I spent two semesters with Margo Saulnier as her directed study student at Northeastern University. In her Performing Arts Administration Course, Margo led interactive class discussions and brought in highly-knowledgeable guest lecturers. Her course highlighted not only performing arts administration topics but also essential life skills: effective communication, negotiation, and creating efficient event timelines. The primary requirement of my directed study was to present a concert of my own. That assignment developed into "Challenge the Stats", which celebrated African Americans in the performing arts. Margo helped me refine my vision of showcasing highly trained minority artists who are challenging underrepresentation in classical music, dance, and film. Margo went above and beyond to provide time, connections, and personal support throughout the planning process and on the day of the event. She has been the key to helping me step into my role as an influencer of diversity in the performing arts. I would highly recommend her as a dedicated professor who is personally committed to the success of each of her students!
