The role involved the promotion and support of Road Safety Education, RSE, within all City of Edinburgh schools and educational establishments. Tasks included development of resources, plan and provide CPD opportunities to CEC staff and partner organisations, produce reports and programmes of study within the Curriculum for Excellence, audit the use of resources and provision within schools. Develop and build partnerships with outside agencies, including the police, ambulance, fire services, NHS Scotland, Road Safety Scotland and the Scottish Office. Evaluate and report on RSE within Edinburgh. Develop competitions and projects with partner agencies to promote RSE. Plan, organise and oversee events including public speaking competitions, the launch of new resources and presentation ceremonies. Develop guidelines and policy for schools in line with CofE. Visit schools and work with young people on RSE in school and in the community. I also worked with the Tram Team on Tram Safety and ran courses to train Site Mangers on how to engage and talk with young people. Show less
