Bio
Margaret Nakayama
Margaret was a versatile employee at Park Hill Orchard. She could be trusted to work expediently alone in the fields harvesting or maintaining the crop, or she could operate the farmstand while providing excellent customer service. She quickly learned the nuances between different apple varieties and was able to educate customers about the differences in taste and utility of each type of apple. Margaret is a pleasure to work with, she has a happy attitude and is constantly uplifting members of her team.

Margaret served as an AmeriCorps National Service Member on our Emergency Response Team (ERT) for our 2018-2019 service year. As Member Services Director, I was one of Margaret's supervisors during her service year and received weekly feedback on her work ethic, skill development and teamwork from her various Team Leaders during natural disaster responses and environmental stewardship projects. I also had one-on-one conversations with Margaret regarding her development throughout the program. As a returning Peace Corps Volunteer, we knew Margaret was a dedicated person when we hired her, and we were lucky to have her on our team for a year. She is a passionate, hard working, and unique individual. She was a pleasure to have around as she was always flexible to changing conditions, never backed down from a challenge, and supported her teammates no matter what. She is kind, caring and empathetic, especially to those most vulnerable. She has a great passion for preserving the environment and educating others on best practices for environmental sustainability and stewardship. I have no doubt that Margaret will be a great fit to your organization. I highly recommend her for any position. Please reach out if you have any questions about Margaret.
