I have been extremely impressed both by Margaret’s leadership and her marketing expertise. She is inspirational direct and open, constantly striving for excellence while taking the time to understand her customers and colleagues in a very thoughtful way. She is highly emotionally intelligent and collaborates and engages with people from across the social spectrum with grace and warmth. Margaret’s leadership is based on a culture of openness and mutual respect. People are encouraged to express differing views and debate different approaches and solutions in a respectful but refreshing way. Margaret’s high expectations and belief in her team’s abilities inspire them to do their best work despite an often high-pressured environment. It’s been an absolute pleasure working with Margaret, who operates with integrity, panache, and a smile on her face.

The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow is home to Physicians, Surgeons, Dentists, Travel Medicine and Podiatric Medicine practitioners located nationally and internationally. The College has a heritage of over 400 years and its purpose is the same today as it was at the beginning; to set and maintain standards of healthcare through its 14,000 Fellows and Members worldwide. As Marketing Manager I play a key role in the development, implementation and execution of the strategic marketing plan for the College. I oversee and coordinate marketing communications across all aspects of local, national and international College business to attract new members, retain existing ones and meet strategic objectives.

Had a fantastic time as Marketing Manager at CultureNL working with a great team headed up by David Carroll. CultureNL Ltd is a charitable organisation that delivers arts and entertainment services, museums and heritage services, libraries, community facilities and play services across North Lanarkshire on behalf of North Lanarkshire Council. I was responsible for the research, development and implementation of a comprehensive range of marketing and promotional strategies designed to increase audience participation across the company’s entire cultural portfolio. Additionally I was responsible for; managing the company’s print and digital content equity, including all campaign materials, websites and social media channels; devising and carrying out market research; audience development plans; and developing effective communication networks for disseminating information on our entertainment, heritage and attractions, events and performing arts programmes. Phew! Basically a Marketing Manager.

ETP is an alliance of twelve independent Scottish Universities, engaged in world class energy related Research, Development and Demonstration. It is the largest power and energy research partnership in Europe and promotes greater levels of collaboration between universities and industry. As Communications Coordinator I was responsible for both internal and external communications. I managed the task of ensuring all stakeholders across the 12 universities were kept up to date with opportunities and collaborations across the nine energy theme areas. I manage the ETP website, social media channels and have introduced e-bulletins and regular newsletters to our target audiences. I also created and managed the production of the Annual Report as well as various marketing tools for use by the network of Business Development Managers. Core to my work with ETP was creating a cohesive brand image and tone of voice that has been implemented across all communications channels and media relations. I also supported the planning and delivery of various events, which included the creation of a registration portal, invitation and management of the content and speakers as well as the communications aspect of the events.

Board Account Director The BridgeLeading our in-house multi-disciplinary team, I was responsible for the development of marketing communications and advertising campaigns across a wide range of topics including health improvement campaigns such as Smoking Cessation for NHS Health Scotland and Winter Health campaigns for NHS 24, financial and FMCG products and campaigns for charities such as Erskine and The Scottish Cot Death trust. This involved working with clients to develop a communications strategy – often conducting market research. Then, bringing together the different departments within the agency, brief the creative team and designers – working with them to develop ideas for client presentation. Once the initial concepts were approved, work with the creative and production teams to implement the campaigns- ensuring they were delivered on time and on budget. I also managed the post campaign evaluation using a wide variety of research methods often resulting in end of campaign reports and sometimes effectiveness papers that were submitted for awards such as the IPA Effectiveness Awards and The Marketing Society Star Awards. During my regular performance appraisals I was frequently described as having very strong project management skills, meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure.
