Being a self-starter interning at a start-up has always appealed to me. Every day brings new challenges and I am pushed to think on my feet, solve problems creatively, and learn skills that may be a little outside of my role as a Marketing Intern. I plan, implement, manage and monitor our social media pages and email marketing campaigns which has resulted in becoming skilled in platforms including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Lightroom, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Presentation, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, HubSpot and Klaviyo as well become experienced in content and digital marketing, time management, storytelling, and consumer knowledge.

I worked at Hollie Ray while home for the breaks. This job has been a lot more than just ringing people up at the counter, so far while working here I have been able to strengthen my sales skills, learn about social media marketing for small businesses, and help out with creating table and window displays. This internship opened my eyes to my passion for digital and event marketing. I was able to become skilled on how to deliver content through social media platforms that was on brand. An important lesson I was able to take away from this opportunity was the power of choosing the right platform for your target audience. A project I was focused on was launching Williamson-Murray Habitat for Humanity’s Snapchat to engage with more high school volunteers. An accomplishment from this project was designing a Geo-Filter for Snapchat via Adobe Illustrator to be available at build sites.
