    • Director, Optum Enterprise Analytics
      • Mar 2006 - Jul 2018

I am a member of a team who provides the clinical content for Optum healthcare analytic solutions. These solutions are market leaders and offer clients an array of robust capabilities for care management, quality-of-care assessment, prediction of future risk, and measurement of total costs of defined-illness episodes. I recently developed an innovative analytic solution to measure medication regimen complexity using pharmacy claims. The scores, weights, and drug therapy details in its output have a variety of business applications across the payer and provider spaces. Uses include patient stratification for care management, reports for Medication Therapy Management services, data to drive customized medication adherence intervention programs, and weight scores to add to risk models. This trademarked analytic will be released for licensing to the U.S. market in July 2018. My work activities have included the development of appropriate methodologies for incorporating pharmacy and lab test content into software analytic tools used in various Optum analytic solutions. Supportive activities include providing pharmacy subject matter expertise to product sales teams, e.g., conference presentations, writing white papers and user documentation. I also spent several years managing a clinical consulting team. Consulting services: In the last three years, major effort involved building clinical consulting services within the department and included leading and participating in clinical analytic projects with external business clients in the areas of new drug applications for FDA submissions and customized add-on analytics for clients across UHG. Expertise: Pharmacy Risk Groups™, Evidence Based Medicine Connect™, Episode Treatment Groups™, and Impact Pro Clinical Indicator™, LOINC, Microsoft ACCESS, drug taxonomies including RxNorm, CVX/MVX, and modules within First Databank's compendium, project resource estimation.
