Malika Holdings Pty Ltd was an Australian company importing from India, South America, Hong Kong, China. I joined when the company was very small and saw it grow to be a highly successful and significant operator ex India. Malika closed after the owner/ MD Mr John Larsen became seriously ill during the 90's. An extraordinary company trading during the years of great innovation and opportunity in fashion. Brilliant staff. We were pioneers in Asian manufacturing - learning as we went. During my time at Malika I worked in retail eventually managing 12 stores while developing handicraft and home wares lines in India for wholesale. In the early 80's I moved over to the wholesale division where, based in New Delhi I directed the design and marketing team during our years of phenomenal growth and success. This frequently included running all the India operation. Skills developed then have been a huge influence in my later 20 year plus career in Bali, Indonesia. The Malika story was about extraordinary staff in Sales, Design , Manufacturing and Distribution operating in a favorable quota market and during mostly good economic times. A great story of the 70's and 80's.....
