The Notre Dame Irish Internship Programme provides the opportunity for ND undergraduate students to live and work in Dublin for 8 to 10 weeks over the summer. These fully-funded internships place students in prestigious organizations across the full spectrum of Irish life, embracing the community sector, entrepreneurship, research laboratories, engineering, politics, business, education, social justice, STEM, sport, poetry, architecture, theater and Irish culture. For two months, students are immersed in their host organizations, working alongside Irish employees and gaining valuable pragmatic experience. There is also a key cultural enrichment part of the program that includes in-house professional development courses and educational excursions around Dublin and the rest of Ireland. As program manager, I liaise between the interns and our partner organizations; I acquire funding for intern room and board, stipends, flights and work travel, and program fees; and I design the two month program of classes, excursions, and cultural experiences that the interns participate in throughout the summer months. In the off season, I recruit students and new internship opportunities as we prepare for the next summer. Within my first 6 months as program manager, I have already grown the program from 37 to 45 internship positions and plan to continue that growth before the 2020 summer. Additionally, I manage the Dublin Global Gateway social media marketing pages on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. We use our social media to recruit for all of our semester and summer programs as well as a platform for student storytelling. Show less
