As a member of the Executive Leadership Team (reporting to the CEO) I provided the leadership and direction through strategic business partnerships to facilitate the development and implementation of human resources strategies (including work health, safety and environment), frameworks, policies and procedures that resulted in AEMO achieving its objectives through the ability to attract, retain, develop and manage a highly engaged, committed and empowered workforce. I also was responsible for the leadership and management of the People and Culture Department (with four direct reports and 10 non-direct reports).

NEMMCO was responsible for the electricity market, systems and forecasting and planning - along the eastern seaboard of Australia. NEMMCO was also responsible for the reliability and security of electricity. NEMMCO merged with five other entities to become AEMO on 1 July 2009. NEMMCO had approximately 250 employees across three states. My role of Head of Human Resources reported directly to the CEO and was responsible for strategic and operational people activities. The role was also responsible for leading a geographically dispersed team of HR professionals.

The DES had approximately 8000 employees across the State of Queensland. The role of Executive Manager, HR Strategy reported through to the Head of HR for the Department and lead a team of 18 people. In the role, I was responsible for developing, in partnership with the business, the first Strategic Workforce Management Plan for DES. In addition, the team I lead was accountable for establishing a DES performance management framework; Leadership Programs; non-technical training workshops and diversity initiatives.
