The Australian Airline Pilot Academy (AAPA), owned by the Rex Group, provides extensive pilot training for future airline pilot's. From Ab-Initio through to an airline standard CPL and optional High Performance Aircraft Training (HPAT) in the C-90 Kingair, AAPA provides state of the art equipment= combined with highly qualified and experienced instructional staff, who provide strong leadership and direction to each individual student. My current role is to provide an introduction to airline Multi-Crew and Standard Operating Procedures through the HPAT program as a platform the student's can then use to launch their professional airline career.

During my time with Australasian Jet I spent time based in Darwin, Alice Springs and Melbourne. I would travel between out-bases (e.g. Mackay, Groote Island, Gove, etc) conducting Check & Training duties on our flight crew in any number of aircraft types operated by the base. I would also perform line flying duties, predominantly in the B-200 King-air out of Essendon, Melbourne. Whilst based in Alice Springs, I held the Base Manager position. Soon after accepting the role, the local airline (Aboriginal Air Services) ceased operations, providing an opportunity for expansion. Our base grew from 5 aircraft to 9, including the introduction of the Cessna Caravan turbine engine aircraft. I added an additional 3 line pilots and a full-time receptionist to meet demand. Within 3 months our revenue numbers far exceeded any previous records set by the base and we were almost completely self sufficient given I had the ability to conduct all internal flight checks/endorsements/renewals.

I also conducted joy flights in the DH-82 Tiger-moth and charter flights in the GA-8 Airvan. I entered Tooradin Flying School as a Junior Grade 3 Instructor. During my time studying at University, I was employed at The Hilton Melbourne Airport as a Food & Beverage Attendant. I also had the opportunity to work at some of their other sites, including Hayman Island and Hilton on The Park. I would work throughout different departments throughout my time here, really enjoying learning about how each area functions, what skills are required to work within each department and how they all communicated with one another to provide a streamlined product to the guest.
