🧑🏻‍🔬👨🏻‍💻 For 5 years I worked as a dedicated PhD fellow and then extended my contract for +1 year as a postdoctoral researcher. Throughout this period, I successfully managed 3 projects involving international collaborations with different research groups. Importantly, I set up from scratch a new station in the laboratory to perform studies with mouse embryos and stem cells during the early stages of development. This experience provided me with strong critical thinking, creative design, fast learning, clear communication and efficient time and teams' management. 🔬 Key Tasks and Responsibilities: 📌 Formulating experimental designs across multiple domains: stem cells, embryonic development, immunity and reprogramming. 📌 Demonstrating technical expertise in animal manipulation, embryonic and cell culture, confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, molecular biology and genomic data analysis. 📌 Presenting scientific findings at prestigious international conferences (i.e.: EMBO Workshop in Singapore), 3 national congresses, 5 department seminars and +20 lab meetings. 📌 Mentoring and guiding the research activities of two MSc students and one PhD fellow. 📌 Crafting and contributing to the preparation of two manuscripts for submission in relevant scientific journals, along with completing a PhD thesis. 📈 Noteworthy Achievements: ✨ Published 4 research articles in prominent international scientific journals (+2 in preparation). ✨ Honored with Best Poster and Oral Presentation awards at the CRG annual symposium. ✨ Secured a coveted travel grant, facilitating a month-long research collaboration at the A*STAR institute in Singapore. ✨ One of the supervised MSc students was awarded the prestigious Marie-Curie fellowship. ✨ Selected to participate in the LEAD program at the BRIC center in Copenhagen. 🧬 For 2 years I worked on exploring the origin and development of muscle cells in chordates using the model organism Oikopleura dioica. We identified genes involved in critical stages of early embryonic development that are often mutated in cancer as well as key genes responsible for muscular diseases. 🧑🏻‍🔬 Tasks: 📌 Setting up an in vitro station for the maintenance and reproduction of Oikopleuras and their seaweed nutrients. 📌 Presenting research findings in 3 congresses between Barcelona and Viena. 📌 Studying interspecies evolution of 13 genes, cloning and characterizing their expression in Oikopleura dioica's muscle and stem cells. 📌 Authoring and preparing figures for BSc and MSc theses. 🎖️ Achievements: ✨ Secured funding from the Spanish Association Against Cancer and the Ministry of Education for projects. ✨ Received extraordinary prize from the University of Barcelona for outstanding BSc and MSc thesis projects. ✨ Published top-notch research in Nature journal (+1 in preparation). ✨ Successfully selected as a PhD fellow after a highly competitive international call at the CRG.
