My role was roughly split into two functions. I 1. provided the instrumentation and SCADA network design for industrial water treatment projects. 2. obtained and configured the hardware and software to execute the designed SCADA network. I contributed to the traditional instrumentation design of creating Process and Instrumentation Diagrams in AutoCAD and writing specifications. This instrumentation design package is included with the full design which depending on the project can include other disciplines such as electrical, HVAC, structural, civil, mechanical, and goes out to bid. On the Applications Engineering side, my team and I procured all client hardware (servers, workstations, monitors) and software (Proficy iFIX) and configured the network in our lab before delivering to the client. Thus began the startup phase, when existing control panels were cut over to the new SCADA network. The duties involved were numerous and included: PLC programming, HMI graphics creation, server and network configuration.

I worked on a separations unit process termed the Volute Dewatering Press. The Volute Dewatering Press system uses chemical flocculants and a patented movable screen to remove suspended solids from industrial and municipal wastewaters. My responsibilities at PWTech were varied and numerous due to the small size of the company (8 full-time employees) but my primary responsibilities were to manage the pilot testing program and commission installed units.
