      Marco is a Chartered Town Planner with 40-plus years of professional planning experience in both the private and public sectors across the UK and overseas. He is the founder of De Pol Associates and one of the current Directors.Prior to setting up De Pol Associates in 1986 Marco was a Principal Planning Officer at the Central Lancashire Development Corporation (CLDC) – the largest new town designated area in the UK. During his 10-year tenure he was responsible for drawing up comprehensive mixed-use development proposals across 1,400 hectares of central Lancashire. Marco also led a land disposal strategy, covering 3,600 hectares, to identify and promote land with development potential via planning applications and liaising with the public and private sectors.In 1979 Marco was chosen by the UK government to be the sole UK Planning Advisor to the Trinidad and Tobago government. During a two-year secondment he was responsible for advising public and private agencies in the UK and Trinidad on major mixed-use development proposals, applications and projects undertaken throughout the country by international, British and Trinidadian developers.Prior to his CLDC role Marco was a Senior Planning Officer at Lancashire County Council. Marco obtained his Town Planning Diploma from Leeds Polytechnic in 1973 having qualified as an architect at Queens University, Belfast.Marco’s wide range of experience includes:-Advising clients on development potential;-Strategic land promotion through the development plan process;-Preparing and managing all kinds of planning applications and appeals;-Giving evidence on behalf of clients at tribunals and arbitration hearings;-Acting as a professional witness at all kinds of appeal hearings and inquiries;-Leading High Court challenges.Marco is a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
