I am an RTDA researcher at the University of Pisa, with a contract financed by the ERC consolidator grant "ASYMOW". My main research activity is focused on the measurement of the W boson mass using data collected by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC. The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) is one of the detectors installed along the beamline of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN to collect data in proton-proton collisions. It was designed to discover the Higgs boson ad search for new phenomena beyond the Standard Model of particle physics. In addition to that, CMS is an extremely versatile detector that also allows to carry out many precision measurements of the properties of known particles in the Standard Model.

During the third year of my PhD, I was a "Cooperation associate" at CERN, and I had the opportunity to spend one year based at CERN from July 2017 to June 2018. I carried on my research activity with the CMS experiment, focusing on precision measurements of the properties of known particles. I was also directly involved in the monitoring and calibration of the electromagnetic calorimeter of the CMS experiment.

I collaborate with the CMS experiment at the LHC. My current activity is focused on the precision measurement of the properties of W bosons produced in proton-proton collisions. In addition, I work on the calibration of the energy response of the electromagnetic calorimeter of CMS, using events with pi0 mesons decaying into two photons.
