  A Family Reunification Specialist/Case Planner who scheduled interactions with youths, families and service providers involved in ongoing cases. Worked with families to help them understand how to create a more productive, positive and safe environment for each family member, especially their children to prevent the youth from returning to placement/care. Provide counseling to family members and youths. Locate and collaborate with other public resources (mental health, preventative services, Administration for Children’s Services - ACS, Office of Children and Family Services - OCFS, Family Court Legal Services - FCLS, etc) and to get the best results possible for each family. I interacted with legal (lawyers), probation officers, court administrators and judges from family court, attended permanency hearings, submit case summary reviews, court updates, participate in other official procedures involved in the resolution of each open case file.

  I am a mentor to two young men who are brother. As a mentor I provided guidance and assistance when it comes to their lives, for eg, education planning, health, social interaction, etc. I enjoy being a mentor because I assist them in achieving their goals. Being passionate, having an interest in sharing my knowledge and being a form of encouragement is what I constantly thrive to do for my young men.

  As a sociotherapist, my goal was to provide holistic therapy to mainly youths (our clients) when it came to their everyday lives, whether it be in education, health, family, employment, etc. Along with providing holistic services, I was trained in ITM (Integrated Treatment Model) and taught it to the youths. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy was often used to assist the youths to understand that certain events cause certain symptoms.
