Billy S. Allen

Marcie and I have been in the disability related field for a very long time. Marcie is one of the few individuals I have met that is truly open to working with deaf folks. Often times, organizations, groups and other entities that works with "other disabilities" are not so eager towards greater inclusion for deaf/hh folks. Marcie, really went out of her way to ensure we deaf folks were able to participate with her on various endeavors. I also observed her stopping long enough to listen to a person with cognitive disability struggling to convey what she wanted to say in the audience. Total patience and respect! If anything with disabilities, Marcie is the queen of inclusion for all! Thanks for all you do Marcie.

I have known of Marcie, about her and finally am connected to her directly and indirectly through her involvement in the national disability community and through FEMA. She has helped to lead the nation on the course that Lex Freiden and I set when we co-conceived the "Americans with Disabilities Act" on January 3, 1968. She is a gregarious leader, with a quick wit and cares very deeply for the lives and well being of people with disabilities throughout the nation, especially but not limited to times of natural disaster.
