As a Junior Planner/Designer, my tasks included conducting research into historic development patterns and preparing maps and graphics for documents. I also coordinated edits to documents and made those edits to design guidelines, preservation plans and other documents, and formatted those documents using Adobe InDesign. I also coordinated the scheduling of public meetings and workshops with clients, and prepared public outreach materials such as workshop activity sheets, online surveys and project announcements. Conducted research with the City of Washington, IL to prepare local historic district nomination for the Washington Square Commercial Local Historic District. Wrote a design guidelines document for the district, compiled a resource book for property owners within the district, and updated the Preservation Ordinance. Also utilized surveys to collect information regarding resident and visitor knowledge of and hopes for the historic downtown. Conducted research through the Northfield Historical Society, gathering information about the establishment and development of Bridge Square in Northfield, MN. Also assisted in creating presentation materials such as visual timelines, written documents, etc. for meetings with city committees as well as community meetings for the people of Northfield. Ultimately, this research is aiming towards the possibility of improvements to the Square or a redesign of the Square based on the consensus of the city as well as the community members. Show less
