Principal investigator in the Nijmegen Centre for Evidence Based Practice (NCEBP; 2008-..) and affiliated Principal Investigator in the Nijmegen Institute of Neurosciences, FC Donders. Principal Lecturer at the dept geriatrics Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre (2009-..) Olde Rikkert is principal Investigator and his research focuses on development of complex interventions in frail elderly, with special focus on cognitive decline and dementia. As such his group carried out several randomized trials, on exercise, nutrition, occupational therapy, and diagnostics and guidance by general practitioners versus medical specialists in dementia patients. His group also studies biomarkers on dementia, both in CSF and in cerebrovascular autoregulation. Olde Rikkert currently also chairs the Radboud Alzheimer Centre and is vice chair of the Nijmegen Network for Care for the Elderly, calle "100" which started in 2008 by a grant of ZonMw. In total this network raised more than 15 M Euros from 2008-2012 for major transition and health services research projects focusing on the organization and evaluation of care for the elderly within the National Programme for the Elderly. His group is currently also developing and hosting the national database for the whole national programme and all eight university networks participating in it.
