Marc is one of the best organized persons i know. He is really thinking in a cross-cutting way, bringing together people, projects and ideas. Doing this he neither stops at the boarder of different disciplines, nor at the boarder of different competencies or political parties. His outgoing and open-minded personality makes it really enjoyable to work with him!

    • Co-Initiator & Director 'Stadt nach Acht' - Nightlife Conference
      • Oct 2015 - Present

The Stadt Nach Acht ('city after eight') conference brings together since 2016 the night disciplines culture of the night, health and security, nighttime economy and urban development. International speakers present their expertise, newest study results and good practice experiences. Berlin has become a magnet for partygoers, musicians, sub culture activists and creative heads from all over the world: a sign that a vibrant nightlife is an important urbanism and city image factor which attracts more cities all over the world. But a vibrant nightlife needs its space inside the city. The success of the nightlife culture comes with its own set of challenges, for example the coexistence of nightlife cultures and neighbours or the risky behaviour of party goers related to their consumption of alcohol, drugs and sexual activities. There have been many interesting responses to this new set of circumstances, problems and needs related to nightlife activities. Prevention and harm reduction interventions also directly target partygoers and we’ve seen the development of structural and regulative measures. For several years, due to ongoing gentrification in European cities, multi stakeholder night-time community and urban planning approaches have become more important. The culture, music and nightlife-regulations are maybe different but the challenges are similar for all cities of the world, which is reason enough to promote an attractive and sustainable nightlife culture on an international level. First and second edition took place in Berlin. The third edition was organized as NIGHTS conference in Brussels in November 2018, with Stadt nach Acht as a co-partner, as underground Frei(t)räume conference in Berlin , Clubfilm-Movienights and several Stadt Nach Acht mono-thematic labs. Stadt Nach Acht conference returned to Berlin in November 2019 and 2021, together with Frei(t)räume.https://www.vice.com/de/article/vv8m7a/die-clubszene-muss-erwachsen-werden-und-sie-ist-gerade-dabei
